Beverly Bienemann, Cenacle Staff Associate, is a retired educator, who has been married for 50 years. She holds Masters Degrees in Theology from Immaculate Conception Seminary and in Counseling from St. John’s University. She is a graduate and former teacher of the Pastoral Formation Institute. Bev is a spiritual director who has been involved in ministry for over 30 years. She is a retreat director, frequent speaker, and teacher, throughout the Metro area.

Anita DosSantos, Cenacle Staff Associate, is Director of Parish Social Ministry at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Melville. She is a spiritual director, and a Tribunal Advocate and has been involved in various ministries in her home parish of St. Peter the Apostle, Islip Terrace. Anita is a graduate of the Pastoral Formation Institute and has a Masters Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University. Mary Spratt, r.c. has extensive experience in the ministries of retreats and spiritual direction in the United States and Africa. Sr. Mary has earned a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling and also a Masters of Divinity Degree.

Details: Movies lure us out of our hectic lives and transport us into a world of digital magic that temporarily frees us from the burdens and stressors of our multi-tasking lives. Movies also have the capacity to trigger questions and issues that impact our relationship with God. This retreat will provide a reflection process for bringing the Gospels into dialogue with movies in order to capture spiritual themes that can nurture our interior lives and connect us with God through the movies.

Details: A contemplative day of prayer in silence and solitude. In her spiritual classic The Interior Castle, St. Teresa of Jesus (Avila) describes the path to union with God through the imagery of seven dwelling places. God IS in the center and seventh dwelling place of the castle. In prayer, we shall let St. Teresa teach us the reasons why so many persons remain stuck in the third dwelling places, and some effective remedies to get unstuck so as to move further on the path to deeper union with God. A light lunch will be served.

Since 1994, Sister has been involved in the ministry of retreats, workshops, and spiritual direction focusing on the spirituality of the Twelve Step Way of Life.

Details: The psalmist tells us “Let your heart take courage…hope in God” (Ps 31:25). Our hearts have found and taken courage through our journey of Recovery. Details: In the introduction, Richard Rohr suggests that his book was written to “awaken your desire for God, free yourself from the fears that can cripple you, connect to the joy already within you, transform yourself and inspire others, see as the mystics see, and live in the full awareness of the Naked Now.” Through careful reading, guided lectures, and shared discussion, this course will be presented as a meditation on these themes as they develop in the book.
